Ostrea edulis is the scientific name of the famous Zealand flat oyster. Widely appreciated for its exquisite taste.
The flat oyster is round and owes its name to the flat top shell. This oyster is the only native oyster in our region. The flat oyster only grows in the best and most nutrient-rich places and requires extra work, expertise and patience from the grower. The flat oyster is a true delicacy.
Farming area
Our Zealand flat oysters are grown in Grevelingen, a saltwater lake. The unique salt content of this lake results in a delicious smooth taste of this oyster.
